Time to stop living in the past.
With blockbuster season upon us and 2016 already rolling out a fairly decent line up of movies, it’s about time to grant the medals of dishonor and embrace what’s to come. What was the worst of the worst?
Still convinced that this is not actually a film but rather a feature length joke to be played on its audience, questions regarding just how low the bar of quality is willing to be set in terms of quality, technical proficiency, and overall expectation of audiences, will be haunting me for years to come.
“The Gallows” isn’t quite the most unwatchable flick of 2015 but as far as theatrical releases are concerned, it’s mesmerizingly terrible and the only thing scary about it is the new level of cost-cutting that it brings to the table.
Usually I take some sort of pleasure in watching performers come face to face with their own hubris but this was probably one of the most depressing double features that I’ve ever had to sit through.
I don’t know what kind of artistic crisis Depp and Sandler must be going through to put them through this slump or whether or not they’ve just given up entirely but hopefully this is the xenith of it.
It’s bizarre to think that a series less than 10 years old is a dated product of a past era but to be fair, this one was past its expiration date when it was still on the drawing board.
I don’t know if its laughable or stupid that “The Road Chip” saw release to directly compete against “The Force Awakens” but regardless, it’s sad that it managed back over 2 times its budget, meaning the end of this cash cow may not be nigh anytime soon.
