With that in mind, Although reviews are expected to continue unimpeded, this is the status on the remaining projects, following a hiatus for the month of June:
Happilly Never After: Perhaps the sole exception to the project hiatus for June, expect to see "Mulan II" sometime next month.
While I haven't settled on a regular release interval just yet, what I can say is that this series will be concluded by early September at the very latest.
I'm always happy to finish a gauntlet of atrocities that I've begun and have quite a few followup pieces to write on the nature of this period in Disney history and the notion of sequels to Animated Cannon movies in general, but there's just no denying that this is getting harder to write about on a case by case basis as the movies shift from the "Why would you dare to make this" territory of badness and further into the far less fascinating "polished cash grab with real production values" area of bad.
The light is clearly at the end of the tunnel however so here's to hoping it can end on a bang.
The Wind Up: So here's one that got a pleasantly surprising reception. I'm most definitely grateful my pitch on how the MCU can handle one of my favorite comic book characters seemed to be an enjoyable read for you as it was for me to write, and I definitely have no shortage of concepts where that came from that I would love to share with you in September, at which point, "The Wind Up" will assume quarterly status.
Younger and Wiser: For the purposes of more thorough research and better articulation of my assessment of the products in question (which will be especially necessary as I'll begin exploring television adaptations soon, beginning with "Shadow Hunters"), Younger and Wiser will move to a Bi-Monthly format. Expect a look at "Shadow Hunters" and how it stacks up to its "Mortal Instruments" cinematic counterpart in late August, with subsequent installments due every other month.
Universal Monstrosities: Returning in July to maintain its monthly schedule, the grand crumbling of the Cinematic Universe format now turns its eye towards Michael Bay's inevitable failure to cultivate the "Transformers" brand into something passable.
Fromage Fridays: As if it hadn't already been there, it is now that I formally dub "Fromage Fridays" as an occasional and irregular treat to be peppered about throughout the year with no set schedule.
While I do have many a fond memory of popcorn and chips on a couch with a group of friends, recoiling at how low film standards for what's produced on DVD can get, the sad truth is that the changing landscape has kind of turned B-movie viewing into a different beast.
Once hipster culture became stripped down and marketable to the mainstream it claims to detest so heavily, leaving the "Sharknadoes" to inherit the Earth, its really hard to find a movie sincere about its badness rather than winking and nodding lazily to the cows that think they're more clever than they really are because they "got" a joke after having it spelled out for them.
Where Redbox, Netflix, and video stores exist, I will always be there and at the ready. Unfortunately, I can't prepare myself to be ready enough to do this enjoyably on a regular basis.
With content new and old over the horizon, I thank you for the support and look forward to hearing impressions on what comes.
